Goatskin drumhead, thicker and with a deeper tone
This skin is the ideal choice for percussionists and artisans seeking a natural drumhead with greater durability and a deeper, more resonant sound. It's a thicker material, around 1.2–1.3 mm, designed to deliver a deeper, more resonant sound with solid projection. This thickness range is typically recommended for djembe drums, where a rounder tone and a firmer response are desired. It also works very well on all types of regional drums, maracatu drums, and shamanic drums.
Because goatskin is thicker, it needs a slightly longer soak than thinner hides to soften properly and be easy to mount. We recommend soaking it for 1 to 4 hours to make it very pliable.
In summary, this goatskin offers durability, a deep tone, and excellent performance for serious djembe projects and other frame or ethnic drums seeking robustness and a rich sound with a bit more bass.
