Berimbau

The berimbau or birimbao is an instrument of African origin that was brought by Angolan slaves to Brazil, widely used in capoeira. It is made up of a very flexible wood, a wire rope, a caxixi (a wicker or straw basket filled with seeds) and a gourd that provides resonance to the instrument.
