Alfaias

The alfaia is a traditional percussion instrument for playing maracatu and coconut. It is also often known as the maracatu bass drum. It is made with a wooden hull to which patches of goatskin are placed and it is tensed with a rope that passes through the upper and lower hoops. The word alfaia comes from the Portuguese "Alfaiate", which translates as "tailor", due to the type of rope tensioning.

From Percuforum we offer the most economical possibility of sending the alfaia disassembled so that the instrument is cheaper. Currently we only do it with Recife alfaias.
